Quick Tips: Landscape Lighting Design

The first step in lighting design is to identify areas important to you; the outdoor living spaces you enjoy and the unique details of your home exterior and landscaping.

• Take a walk around and think about the spaces you enjoy during the day; this will help you decide what you’d also like to enjoy during the evening.
• Consider points of interest (i.e., fountains, favorite trees, colorful artwork, sculptures, water features, etc.)

Perform a Safety walk

• consider walkways to ensure you properly light steps and hazardous areas.

• driveways

Tool: Use irrigation flags to mark the areas you decide to illuminate.

If you spend time doing this basic walk, you will see your vision realized. Setting the expectation at this stage will ensure a successful project.
